The Anubis surge — Long time readers on this BBS would know I don't really do javascript. Dillo has served me well for most of my document reading needs on the web. However! In this past month I've been hit by a surge of bot detection pages on previously accessible websites! stackoverflow, the arch wiki just to name a few. So my fellow javascript haters: What is your experience in recent month?

The Chawan http browser — Check out the Chawan http browser on sr.ht! It is a terminal browser that supports CSS! sites look much better than what you will get from say lynx. I think it is an ideal http viewer for offpunk and other command line gemini browsers. Chawan is written in nim and builds ok on OpenBSD, I need to install gmake and compile nim 2.2 out of nim 1.6 from package.

OpenIndiana — So I tried OpenIndiana's live image. I digged out two of my older system for this task, since their HCL indicates no support for anything newer than Intel 8th gen. On my 8th gen intel system, the OS failed to initialise the PCIE root hub, result in a no-boot. On my 6th gen system, I reached GUI login screen with the correct resolution, but when I tried to login, X11 would crash. So I tried to boot to console, but didn't reach login prompt. RK3399 SBC as OpenBSD Desktop? So I’ve read the excellent article from exotic silicon dot com, the instructions they give seems easy enough to follow. Anyone tried any of the RK3399 boards with OpenBSD? Building your own BL31 (this is the dreaded ARM trusted firmware) from source is damn interesting, I bet they will never ever let you do that for snapdragon or Apple Mx.
