New regulations seem effective in Bahrain 🏁

Lots of excitement in the first race of the year. In three amazing laps Verstappen passed Leclerc each lap, only to lose the place again almost immediately. There was an engine fire (right where the Grosjean's fireball happened), then both Red Bulls dropped out at the end with engine issues, so Hamilton got third and Russel fourth. Magnussen and Bottas pulled out something special. McLaren were abysmal.

All the way through the race, and all through the field, it seemed that it's possible now to follow another car closely. I can't remember how many times we were supposed to have this before with regulation changes, but this time it seems to have worked.

Quietly Competent awards go to Albon and Stroll who both finished higher than their cars seemd to deserve, and to Tsunoda for getting one Red Bul engine to a points finish.

I hope this isn't a one-off. Can we have all the races like this, please?
