beta pv frame - 2022-10-28
this frame was again built around the pv panel but using a larger CLS.
- 38 x 89 CLS treated.
- ply triangle corner stiffeners.
- wx resistant screw (wirex spax).
- blocks screwed to the frame rear and pre-drilled for 8mm bolts (for supports)
- no supports actually fitted (iterating the design).
the larger CLS was i felt too heavy. the frame was more substantial and stiffer but i had difficulty moving it on my own: a requirement is that i need to be able to reposition the frame myself without help.
the blocks for the 8mm bolts were i felt too small. despite countersinking and pre-drilling the holes i damaged the blocks driving in the screws.
i leaned this frame against the side of my cabin at a suitable winter tilt angle of 32/58 deg.
connection:
- isolate the panels from the charge controller.
- check the output polarity and voltage with a multi-meter (cables not clearly marked, manuals in chinglish).
- cover the panels to reduce output. modern roofing felt will let enough light through to get a voltage reading.
- connect the panels to the dc isolating switch.
- recheck the polarity and voltage.
- switch the dc isolator from off to on
this iteration runs all 4 of my panels (4 x 400w): more watts:-)
it is winter, the sun is hidden by cloud so not 1,600w: i saw over 900w when the sun was still a little hazed over.
2022-10-27: 2.83Kw generated.
sorry no pics.
onwards to RC1:-)
