Kakushigoto / かくしごと

A bittersweet story about a father Gotô Kakushi and his 10-year-old10-year-old daughter Hime, their friends and colleagues. Kakushi lost his wife a few years ago in an accident and now gives it his all to be the perfect father for his daughter.

The only drawback — his job, which he loves almost as much as his daughter. If only he weren't a mangaka famous for his rather erotic oeuvre. He fears that he'd lose her respect for good if his daughter learned about this job and at home plays the solid office worker. All sorts of mixups ensue.

Next to the father's story there's also a parallel track told by the then 18-year-old Hime and her discovery of her father's double identity.

I watched this anime with one of my sons, who just as me enjoyed the sweet story line and felt for both for Kakushi and Hime. The characters are surprisingly deep, the artwork nice and sweet, though nothing particularly outstanding either.

In summary, Kakushigoto is the perfect family anime, though with its sad background story and its two narrative strand probably a bit confusing for very small kids.
