Using the Descant Audio Licence

The Descant Audio Licence ("DAL") provides a standard set of terms

and conditions that creators and other rights holders may use to

share original works of authorship and other material subject to

copyright and certain other rights specified in the public licence

below. The following considerations are for informational purposes

only, are not exhaustive, and do not form part of the licence.

Considerations for Licensors

This public licence is intended for use by those authorised to give

the public permission to use material in ways otherwise restricted

by copyright and certain other rights. This licence is revocable,

so long as the decision to do so is unanimous among all active

rights-holders. Licensors should read and understand the terms and

conditions of this licence before applying it. Licensors should

also secure all rights necessary before applying this licence, so

that the public can reuse the material as expected. Licensors

should clearly mark any material not subject to the licence. This

includes any Creative Commons-licensed material, or material used

under an exception or limitation to copyright.

Considerations for the Public

By using this public licence, a licensor grants the public

permission to use the licensed material under specified terms and

conditions. If the licensor's permission is not necessary for any

reason; for example, because of any applicable exception or

limitation to copyright; then that use is not regulated by the

licence. This licence grants only permissions under copyright and

certain other rights that a licensor has authority to grant. Use of

the licensed material may still be restricted for other reasons,

including because others have copyright or other rights in the

material. A licensor may make special requests, such as asking that

all changes be marked or described. Although not required by this

licence, you are encouraged to respect those requests where

reasonable. rights-holders

Audio Licence 1.1, ensuring that users

Creative Formats

In visual media, you might include the attribution in the

credits or description section, ensuring it is visible and

accessible to the audience.

Derivative Works

Any new work that is based on or derived from the original work,

including adaptations, modifications, or transformations.

Public Playback

The act of playing the licensed work in a public space, where an

audience can hear it.

Redistribution

The act of distributing the original work or any derivative works

to the public, whether for free or for payment.

Enforcement

If a rights holder believes that their rights under this licence

have been violated, they may contact the licensor using the provided

contact information. The licensor may then choose to address the

issue directly with the infringing party. If a resolution cannot be

reached, the licensor reserves the right to take appropriate legal

action to protect their rights.

Licence Conditions

1. Attribution

You should give appropriate credit to [Artist Name] in a manner

that is suitable for the medium in which the work is used. This

includes conveying the name of the creator and the title of the

work, as well as a link to the licence text. While the specific

form of attribution is at the discretion of the licensor, it is

preferred that it includes a direct link to the licence and/or a

copy of the licence text when feasible.

2. Public Playback

The recording may be played publicly only if no admission fee is

charged specifically for access to the licensed material itself.

This means that while live performances or events may charge for

attendance, the playback of the licensed work must be free of

charge to the audience. The licensee must own a copy of the

licensed material to play it publicly.

3. Derivative Works

You are free to cover and/or sample this work and charge for your

version. When doing so, you should provide appropriate credit to

[Artist Name].

4. Redistribution

You may redistribute this work, including in compilation albums

or bootleg CDs, even for payment. While you are not legally

required to provide proper credit, it is strongly encouraged to

acknowledge [Artist Name] whenever possible. If you choose to

redistribute the work, please notify [Artist Name] of your

intent. If you do not receive a response, you may proceed with

the redistribution. However, if a response is received that

withdraws the right to use the track, you must comply with that

request.

5. Derivative Works

You may create derivative works based on this music, but you are

not required to licence them under the same terms. However, you

must still provide appropriate credit to [Artist Name].

6. No Additional Restrictions

You may not apply legal terms or technological measures that

legally restrict others from doing anything the licence permits.
