Yeah, yeah, atheists are technically correct, because that one thing that they don’t believe in—

the Santa Claus,

the Superman,

the Sky Bully,

the Ultimate Boeing 747—

interventionist theism—

That’s not my jam either.

Neither is hope.

Nor the eye on the horizon.

Nor trying to get the biggest slice of pie in the sky when you die.

But for those who have, like me, ever drawn from a story,

from Luke and Wedge in the trenches of the Death Star,

from Sam and Frodo in the ash fields of Mordor…
