BBS Over NNCP

I use NNCP regularly for file transfers and remote execution, but one thing I almost never use it for is mail. I feel I simply don't know enough about various mailing systems to set up anything, though I can definitely see the utility of it.
A few days ago I saw a post on Alex Schroeder's capsule about an offline BBS powered by NNCP.^ The board, appropriately called "Offline", is run by plugd of The Lambda Lab gopherhole. plugd has written a Lua BBS backend called QwikBoard that sends users QWK files to read and accepts REP files as posts.
I joined the BBS yesterday to find that some conversation is already happening there. Seeing NNCP power an active discussion space is really exciting to me!
