Lantashi Dance - Kingdom of Joy

Below is my latest log for my Cosmic Voyage story Lantashi Dance. It has been a long time since I've done one of these logs. I forgot how much fun it is to write these! I definitely need to create more adventures for the crew of Lantashi Dance!!

Are you sure this is on? It is? That's great.

Lantashi: Captain Lantashi here. We are in the starship

Lantashi Dance, currently in a parking orbit around

Kelev 01-072.4 at about 180 miles up. The situation on

the ground is a mess. But first let me introduce some

of my crew standing here by the QEC with me.

I have here at my side Commander Yonas, Chief Security

Officer Dothmer, and, um... it....

Yonas: Her name is Rachel, and you should treat her with

the respect you would show any of the living.

Lantashi: But it is dead...

Yonas: SHE! It is a she. Or rather, SHE is a SHE. SHE is

dead. Rachel used to live on that planet, before the alien

seeding.

Dothmer: An afterlife! Proof of an afterlife! The glowing

light outside the ship are the spirits of the heavens.

Yonas: No, the glowing light outside is ionized gas. If

you try to go out the airlock again, I swear, I will...

I will...

Lantashi: Oh dear, Yonas. Control yourself. Um, Rachel,

would you like to say anything.

Yonas: Lantashi, the dead don't talk.

Lantashi: Then how do you know her name is Rachel?

Yonas: Well, she talks to me. And I guess she talked to

Thane...

Lantashi: And caused an explosion if I recall.

Yonas: I'm sure it was all Mr. Biomax's fault!

Lantashi: Fine, I'm sure King Joy can take the blame

now. But let's give our report.

To everyone who receives this transmission, the Lantashi

Dance is in one piece, in great shape really, thanks to

the efforts of the remaining crew on board. I especially

want to thank Bearth, our Chief Engineer, and Commander

Yonas, our Executive Officer.

Yonas: Thanks for the acknowledgement. You are leaving

out a lot though. What about the alien attack?

Lantashi: Commander, you are ruining the tenor of the

broadcast. It has to be entertaining!

Yonas: The aliens, Captain. The Earth, and all the other

ships out there, need to know that we aren't alone. And

it is dangerous!

Dothmer: And that there are spirits, an afterlife, and

the spirits visit us.

Yonas: Shut up, Dothmer, you are ruining the

transmission. Actually, no, keep talking! Tell them

about the aliens!!

Dothmer: Well, the aliens, yes. They were not spirits. I

am very disappointed. The aliens appeared to be

dinosaurs. Kind of like raptors. They disabled our ship

engines as we were trying to dodge around asteroids.

They boarded the ship. Big creatures. As big as me.

Lantashi: And, our dear audience, that is saying

something. Dothmer is a Minotaur, and over 10 feet tall!!

Yonas: Dothmer is only 7 foot 4. And we should be using

the metric system anyway. It is regulation. That makes

Dothmer about 2.2 meters tall.

Lantashi: No one cares about your *regulations* Yonas!

Anyway, the dragon people...

Dothmer: Raptors...

Yonas: We agreed to call them Dracovians!

Dothmer: The Raptors boarded the ship. It was quite a

fight. Between the security people that remained

onboard, our AI Ms Foxy, Yonas, and even the ghost, we

managed to repel them from the ship. Commander Yonas

even managed to get a direct shot on alien ship's

engines. Bearth got one our own engines operational,

allowing us to out-maneuver the enemy through the

asteroid field. As it tried to chase us, it colided

with one of the asteroids, seriously damaging it.

Yonas: Only doing my job Chief.

Lantashi: Anyway, we got away, and even managed to take

one of the Dracovians captive. All safely locked away,

*I promise*. We're calling our prisoner the Bearded

Dragon. And now we are back to planet 01-072.4.

Yonas: The Foxy Brown AI has now named the planet

Lavantia's Blossom, after some Greek Goddess or other.

Lantashi: Oh, I love that name!

Foxy (disembodied voice): You are welcome captain. But

the goddess' name is Laverna. I just like Lavantia

better. Also, do you like my big fluffy tail?

Yonas: What?? What is the AI talking about??

Lantashi: Yonas, you know I designed the AI after my fox

companion.

Yonas: Fine, whatever. Tell the QEC system, and all your

*audience*, what happened planetside.

Lantashi: Oh, yes, that! Well, it seems the joy vines -

that's what we're calling them - are intelligent, and

telepathic. They have compromised most of the crew that

landed planetside. Thane Biomax made contact with the

Lantashi Dance as soon as we entered orbit. It seems he

has become one with Joy, and is now calling himself Rex

Gaudius, and speaks for all the Joy Vines on the planet.

Dothmer: You should tell them about Cuddles...

Lantashi: Oh, yes. It seems not all is well in Big Joys

Ville... that is what we are calling the camp set up by

the landing team. Security Officer Cuddles McFadden, a

guy that went down with the landing party, well, he and

Sarah West, the not quite as pretty as me Engineer,

independently made contact with the Lantashi Dance. It

seems that they resisted becoming all happy, and ran

away from the camp. They have been hiding out all this

time! How long has it been, Foxy, since we dropped them

off and were attacked by the alien ship?

Foxy Brown AI: One year, three months, and fifteen days.

Yonas: Far too long! Let's go rescue our people, and

deal out some justice to joy!

Dothmer: We're coming to rescue you, Cuddles!

Big Joys Ville - The location of the original landing

party from Lantashi Dance. It is now controlled by the

Joy Vines, fused with the minds of the landing party.

Dracovians - Large lizard-like people that exist within

the vicinity of the Star System Kelev 01-072.

Dracovians have achieve star flight and are highly

aggressive with uninvited guests.

Ghost - An ethereal spirit that haunts the living realm.

Ghosts enjoy moving things around and making scary

noises.
