I just recently took a new job (actually I start next week) and I'll be doing web dev work. Was an embedded developer for nearly two decades, a console user and hated just about every social media beyond the old dial up BBS I used to frequent as a child. Its such a weird feeling where my day job is working in a tech that I never really wanted to exist.

To be fair, the new job is not some garbage SaaS product no one really needs, I'll be working on the web services, client portal and mobile presence for a local hospital system. But still the god awful amount of javascript I'll be writing...

Yes, they do, but fortunately there are still pockets of resistance here and there (the small web, the fediverse, rss feeds, etc).
