##Logbook
Year 2025. I have now discovered a world different from the one we all
know—perhaps a bit too late, or maybe just in time. I don’t know where
I’m headed, but I know that I am moving forward. I will record all my
thoughts here, hoping that one day this might become a trace of
humanity’s journey. A contact would be welcome to understand whether
I am alone on this journey.

When I was a child, I played DOS games. At first, there weren’t many,
they cost an arm and a leg, and it wasn’t easy to explain to those who
had to pay that those “useless things” were actually games. They were
titles not in my language, difficult, often military, and meant for
adults. As a child, I played games intended for mature people; today,
however, games are aimed at young people. Perhaps I was born in the
wrong historical moment. In reality, today there is much more choice:
it’s a paradise for those who love this kind of thing. Despite the social
and economic difficulties that this type of entertainment involved, for
some reason, stubbornly attached to a machine meant mainly for work,
I decided to continue. In the end, I can do what I want — or almost.
Today I often find myself thinking about those times, when everything
was new, fascinating, and exciting. Perhaps it was because of my age,
the historical moment, my character, or the culture we absorbed — made
of movies, music, and technological dreams — but it felt like living
immersed in an imminent future, colorful and full of surprises. Every
year brought progress, and the future became present before our eyes,
tangible, real. There is always a price to pay: in the past, there was the
dream of the future and little else; today the future is real, but not
mine. This is not an old man’s rant, but the reflection of someone who
realizes how beautiful the present is, with all its possibilities, while,
alas, from here begins the dream of others.
I will continue to live in the present, also because it is full of
comforts and problems, just like in the past. But inside me is missing
that part that dreamed of a future that has now become present.
My ship is calling me, along with my crew

In a couple of days it will be my birthday. It’s a strange day to
celebrate — I’ve never really understood what there is to celebrate:
birth? life? Here, in space, everything seems even more meaningless.
Yet, in the end, it’s just another way to be close to those who truly matter.
Perhaps we should really rethink the “traditions” of our species — or
perhaps the species itself.
My crew will be with me, once again, on this
long journey into the unknown.

In deep space, problems still happen frequently. It’s incredible how we
keep attracting them. Alone in the dark, alone in the silence — the only
voice I hear says bad things happen. For now, it’s impossible to
determine the impact of the new problems, but one thing is certain:
there are a lot of them.
When it all ends, I will rest for a while.
Silence is better than a thousand words.

These are strange days. We are approaching uncertain places, full of
shadows: we do not yet know how much they can harm us, but one thing is
certain, we will try not to be caught unprepared. At times we realize
that, even knowing that some obstacles are inevitable, we cannot stop
them: we can only learn to withstand the impact and absorb its weight.
And what can a captain do to protect the crew from all these dangers?
He does not always have the answers, but he keeps steady at the helm
and acts, for his duty is not to know every fate, but to guide through
the storms.
This storm too shall pass.

Exploring this new world, I will strive to understand what value it may
have for me. Though it may seem like a waste of time, I am certain that
every experience will contribute to my growth and knowledge, enriching
my journey in this infinite voyage. In the end, isn't that the purpose
of mankind?
