I got AirPods Pro 2 today, definitely feels and sounds better than my AirPods 2nd gen, the new additional features are also pretty neato

@hanzbrix Oh, yes, adapters… Never seemed reliable to me! They are basically very simple USB audio interfaces, right?

And yes β€” to each their own, everyone has own use cases, I just never felt the inclination to get a wireless pair, but now I feel like I'm being forced into it for no good reason. Having another gadget with a battery to keep charged and worry about doesn't make it any more attractive 😩 Β· 3 months ago

Besides, even Momentum 2 which I use with my phone β€” they aren't exactly expensive, but aren't cheap either, and wireless version would cost me even more. I'd rather spend that premium on getting a phone that has the output than on another pair of headphones. Β· 3 months ago

@hanzbrix Oh, my computers are old! I don't think my Android phone is that old, but it has jack too β€” in fact, I think some midrange models still have them. TBH, I'd rather have that than the latest-greatest SoC β€” modern phones are too overpowered anyway IMO.

And I've never used in-ear headphones β€” they don't feel comfortable, but I have accumulated quite a few pairs of bigger ones. With Sennheiser you can always get spare parts and I never felt the need to get rid of any of them.

So getting another pair of headphones just because phone makers decided people don't use wired ones seems unreasonable to me. Β· 3 months ago

I like the overall design on AirPods, how they made the pairing and charging work. I also like the idea of using them as hearing aides β€” my hearing is good, but it might be useful to some.

But all in all it's still not my kind of product β€” never switched to wireless headphones, they also feel to fragile to me. But maybe I have just become old-fashioned 🀷 Β· 3 months ago

@hanzbrix @not4uffinonmobile Most of the computers I use is still by Apple, even my Fediverse instance is hosted on an old PowerPC Mac Mini. And when I got all this stuff, it wasn't exactly retro β€” usually they were computers from current lineup of the time, so I'm very corporate πŸ˜…

I probably won't get anything modern by Apple though β€” somehow what they make now feels uninspired to me. I also don't like how glued and soldered together everything has become. I could replace the fans in the MacBook Pro I'm typing this on a few months ago having only basic screwdrivers, with modern hardware it's unimaginable. Β· 3 months ago
