Radiance free 3D model repository
The Radiance model repository is a free, open-source repository of 3D models, textures, lighting files, and Radiance material definitions which can be used in scenes.
It is fairly common to find 3D models in various formats online which have materials defined for popular rendering engines. However, when producing renders with Radiance, we are interested in 3D models that are to scale, have a certain level of detail built into it, and also have materials, lights, and textures defined in a very specific way. This means that existing repositories are not too useful. Here's what you'll find in this repository:
- **All models are a digital twin of a real-life physical product.** This repository must have _photometrically correct_ material definitions, and so it is not possible to have an imaginary object, as we cannot scan that material. Where possible, the real product will be named and linked to so you can check what it physically looks like.
- **All models are in metres.** Relative scale is important in lighting simulation, and so we have chosen metres as a standard.
- **All models have calibrated materials.** All material definitions are defined in Radiance syntax and obtained from measurements of the real life object, such as through the _macbethcal_ method. Any approximations in the material will be described explicitly to you so you can make an informed judgement. It is encouraged to be critical of the measurements and verify measurements are correct. If you have an improvement, please share it so that everybody benefits (as required by CC-BY-SA).
- **All lights are real lights.** Any significant light would be represented by an `.ies` file, with a careful definition of the luminaire.
- **All models are geometrically and texturally detailed.** This repository has the dual purpose of being validated, as well as aesthetically pleasing (without sacrificing correctness). This means that we aim for detailed geometry (to a degree that does not prohibit the simulation), and rich textures (in the CG artist sense of the term) with UV mappings. Textures will be calibrated to ensure they still represent the average RGB of the material.
- **All models have a preview picture.** These preview pictures give only a rough idea of what the model contains, but are not a photometrically correct simulation and will therefore look fake. The model will look different when placed in a true life environment.
- **Models are categorised using the IFC4 ISO BIM standard.** As the purpose of these lighting simulations are mostly for simulations of the built environment, we have chosen to use BIM classifications.
- **All models are open-source and open-data.** Not only is this entire repository under CC-BY-SA, any source models with their parametric data are retained in open-source formats, such as `.blend` [Blender] format and `.obj` files both being provided.
- **All assets follow the RFHS for easy reuse.** The [Radiance Filesystem Hierarchy Standard] is a proposed file organisation standard to organise and reuse assets across scenes in Radiance, so using a model is a simple as a single `xform` line of code.

The LG 24M38H computer monitor is a fairly generic black computer monitor. It has a 1920x1080 screen resolution with a typical brightness of 200 cd/m^2. It has a brushed black texture on its plastic frame, and some decals for menu icons on the screen.
Earphones Sennheiser M2 IEG free 3d model
The Sennheiser M2 IEG Momentum in-ear earphones are your typical black earphones. This is a free 3D Radiance model of the earphones which contains the buds, coupler, and volume rocker. You can model the wires based off the profile yourself.

This is an off-white metal framed screen door, which has a mesh or fine black fly screen across its centre.
Door sliding to right 2 panel 1750w 2010h
This is a two panel metal framed glazed sliding door with a vision strip. It has a structural opening of 1750mm wide and 2010mm high, with some tolerance. It has a black metal handle with locking hardware.
Door single swing left 900w 2100h
This is a white painted wooden hollowcore door with a glazed panel. It has a white fabric blinds attached to it, doorknob lock, barrel bolt, and air seal at the bottom.

Mouse Microsoft Intellimouse Optical USB
The Microsoft Intellimouse Optical USB mouse is a fairly generic old popular computer mouse. It has a rubber scroll wheel, side buttons, a Microsoft branding decal, and a red LED luminaire on its plastic body.
Keyboard Filco Majestouch 2 Tenkeyless
This is a free Radiance 3D model of the Filco Majestouch 2 Tenkeyless keyboard. Being a tenkeyless keyboard, it lacks a numpad. It is a fairly generic design but sports key decals affixed to the front face of each key, as opposed to on the top. It is a mechanical keyboard and has blue LEDs.

Shoe rack Bunnings 2 tier white wooden
This is a free 3D model of a 2-tier white wooden shoe rack sold by Bunnings in Australia. It comes as a flatpack, built out of pine wood, and painted white.
This is a black leather man's office shoe. It has a left shoe and a right shoe.
Saw horse Bunnings Craftright folding metal leg
This is a saw horse by Craftright sold by Bunnings in Australia. It has folding orange metal legs.
This is a free 3D Radiance model of a generic grey mousepad I had lying on my desk. It isn't particularly special in any way, but sometimes you need some entourage.

Tradescantia pallida (wandering jew, purple heart)
Tradescantia pallida, otherwise known as wandering jew or purple heart, is a perennial herbacious purple plant that is a groundcover that likes to spread. It has good indoor air filtration properties.
Rye is a tall grass with recognisable seed heads. This can be used to give variation in the height of groundcovers in generic grassy scenes.
Nephrolepis exaltata (Boston fern, sword fern)
Nephrolepis exaltata, also known as the Boston fern or sword fern, is a perennial herbacious fern. It is often used as an indoor plant.
Crassula multicava is a perennial succulent often grown as a groundcover plant. It is a hardy plant and resistant to dryness.
Crabgrass is a spreading, crab-like grass that is usually considered to be a weed in north American gardens.
This clover model can be used as a dense, small, patch of groundcover amongst a primary species of vegetation.
Chlorophytum comosum (spider plant)
Chlorophytum comosum, otherwise known as spider plant, is a perennial flowering plant. It is often used as groundcover, border plants, or house plants. It has good indoor air filtration properties.
Bahia grass is a common grass that can be used when generic turf is required in a render and no local species model is available.
IfcLamp
This LED lamp has an opal globe LG125/860B22 emitting white 6000K light omnidirectionally. It does not come with an .ies file, but approximates its specification of 1200 lumens.
This is a lamp model based off the LED Ikea Ryet 50325332, which is a clear chandelier or candelabra lamp / bulb. This product is no longer sold but this model may be used as a generic 2700K lamp.

This upright floor lamp sold by Kmart in Australia is a typical light fixture with a replacable globe of up to 60W. It has cable fixings on its stand.
This is a free 3D model of a the Ikea Ingared beige luminaire. It is a typical desk luminaire with a cylindrical polyester lamp shade and brushed metal stand.

Double GPOs (general purpose outlet) in Australia generally look like this. Here's a free 3D model of a typical one that you can find almost anywhere, for use in lighting simulation models.

This is a generic power plug that is plugged into a socket. It is made out of black rubber.

This is a generic styled single and double wall mounted electrical toggle switch. It has its own encasement and is painted in white paint.

This is a 5-panel window with a single pane of clear glazing in each panel, surrounded by a wooden, white painted frame. 3 of the panels are awning windows which open out.
