A danger here is if you spend too long fussing around…
Octave doubling, rhythmic tweaks, counterpoint, phrase fiddling, and the introduction of a new theme, and probably too much time spent fussing around with the phrase. On the other hand, playing around with a theme can be a good thing to practice.
