A downside of adding too much friction is that you might then lack input sources of new material to write about,

but on the plus side this avoids too frequent checking of sites for updates. Probably a monthly round-up of interesting articles might be a good idea, as then it's only once per month, and you get a whole month to digest the most interesting of the interesting articles. This role was traditionally served by the magazine, but those cost money (and they mostly all went to ad spam) and the good ones will have good editors who pick interesting articles. So someone at least will need to busy check the latest trends, and ideally collect the most relevant.
The Japanese maple turned green again, though that was from the lichen and moss showing through after the red leaves fell, even before when some define Winter as starting.
