On Mindfulness
I think I understand why the word "Mindfulness" for such a practice and such branch of knowledge.
I have been, in the past, a practitioner of "Mindfulness" meditation, and have always been curious about the word "Mindfulness". It seemed that the practice focused more on "emptiness", rather than "fullness". So, I always wondered "Why that word?", "Why there is 'ful' in 'Mindfulness'?".
Today, I came to this conclusion:
There is too much focus on entities/concepts in our today world. In a way, this can be considered as an obsession for things that have limits. It is an obsession for "things" and for "limits". For things that have a beginning and an end.
What is discarded in our today world, with this obsession, is (you guessed) things without limits. Such as streams (moving rivers, for example), infinite fields (space, for example), etc.
So, "Mindfulness" is about to fill your mind with "space", the most important (and very much a neglected) "thing". And space is not a thing, if you really think about it.
Space does not have limits. But my mind does have limits, like myself does. This is why my mind can become full. Hopefully with space, from now on.
