Imho, the ActivityPub protocol is definitively not designed for privacy.

ActivityPub/Federation is like if Noah had built a fortress after God told him about the flood; that might be useful for an invasion but it doesn't really help with the 40 days of rain. They missed the mark in thinking that centralization was the biggest problem with the paradigm of modern social media, in my only slightly informed opinion.
