— List of regions of the United States
American Geminauts: what region of the United States do you live in? It would be fun to meet some people in real life who share this hobby, but I don't know if there are very many of us here in the Midwest. (I realize the term "region of the US" is somewhat loosely defined, so to make the poll unambiguous, I'm using regions as defined by the Bureau of Economic Analysis, which can...

A small non-functional browser — I've been coding a small 'browser' from scratch these days. The idea was to keep dependencies at minimum. So, I would use raw sockets to do everything and use raylib to render it. In the end I gave up understanding how open_ssl cryptography worked from specification and ended up just calling openssl and including it as dependency. it can handle [http link] [https link] (both on text mode) and did I say it can also display gemini capsules if given a [gemini link]...

Poll of daylight saving time: Which kind of time do you think they should be?

Hello World — Well here goes, my very first post in geminispace. As a kid I was enthralled with the early space program, growing up my dreamt of suborbital hops in my X15 and circumnavigating the globe all alone in my Mercury capsule. Somehow Gemini is the program that seems to get lost between Mercury and Apollo, which is a shame because it accomplished so much.

Fill: I'm fairly positive I fixed the bug for straights (I have a cold so hopefully I squashed it). Question: Should I hard reset the stats for the game seeing how anyone could get a straight whenever they wanted? I'd like to see what everyone thinks but I'm leaning towards fresh slate ATM.

Thoughts on nomadnet as gemini competitor? — I've spent almost the whole day researching reticulum and nomadnet, and here are my thoughts: I initially was interested in it to see how hard it is to host your own pages over it, configure and connect to the whole thing. However, the whole stack is written primarely in python (that scares me in terms of reliability because no offence but python is a trash language for that purpose), and clients are bretty basic. There's no search on page...

Which Javascript-free Browser? — Which Javascript-free and/or text-based light browser do people prefer? Sometimes it's nice to view the web through a more simple lens, even though it breaks 98% of websites out there. Are you more of a Dillo-head, or a traditionalist hanging out at the TTY with Links2? Or are you a *true* traditionalist and go all the way back with Mosaic? Maybe something else? Actually, pruning my daily www usage to websites which work well in these "simple" browsers has...

Obviously — There is cheese on the floor!
Two weeks of OpenBSD desktop — Here is a small report of my two week experience with OpenBSD for the first time in my life. So, I have ASUS RoG Strix laptop. Touchpad doesn't work, I just use USB mouse. I haven't tried to figure this out yet. Everything else works perfectly fine. I dual-boot OpenBSD alongside GNU/Linux (Gentoo). GRUB doesn't know about it for now, so I use EFI boot menu. I use MATE DE. For some reason it's different from what I have in Gentoo. Especially the terminal: it doesn'...

Random question. I'm planning to buy a new laptop for uni, since I've just broken my ten-year-old MacBook. I have decided on a ThinkPad T450, but I need some help deciding on the hostname. On one hand, since it's a ThinkPad, I could call it Amethyst-II (my T400 is called Amethyst). On the other hand, since it's replacing my MacBook, I could call it Pearl-III (the MacBook was called Pearl-II, and my first MacBook was just called Pearl). What do you think?

Vigilia.cc revamp — Just wanted to make a quick announcement to say I did a fair bit of work on my capsule, and I kinda like the stage I got to with it; so have a look if you want. Please feel free to subscribe to the feeds as well - I’ve added gemfeeds to it.

"The Chosen" show — How many people here have been watching "The Chosen"? It's my favorite show. I've already been to see the Season 4 previews in the theater.

It may be better to have this space muted by default. — It may be good to not have this space appear on the all posts by default. It may be better to have people "opt-in" to seeing posts from here on the home-page instead of being exposed to them automatically. I know there is a button to mute this space but as many people may not want to see this, it would be better to not have to go through the hastle unessesarily. Please share your thoughts! :)

@highlight — I can't believe it! As if Facebook wasn't invasive enough, they invent the feature @highlight and reactivate it annually for you! I just saw family and friends complaining about receiving notifications for the use of that tag 🙄 I searched a way to avoid this feature (also invited them to leave Facebook): 1. Click on “Settings & Privacy,” followed by “Settings.” 2. Scroll down the page, and click on “Notifications.” 3. Click on “Tags” to choose which notifications you receive. 4....

Help me with my next "real" interactive fiction — OK. It's writer/developers' block again. It's fun to do small gamebooks and such, but I want to build a real thing (tm) and that's scary. So I'm kind of paralyzed among choices, choices, choices. These are: A honest to the gods dungeon. You know the drill, get inside, get lost, fail to guess the witty riddles, trigger an obvious trap, smash into monsters that you could avoid by reading and thinking a bit more, and die just when you're about to...

Eindeutigkeit — If you're following my puzzle series "Eindeutigkeit", you can record your progress here, and/or give feedback. I'd be interested to know if anyone is getting anywhere with it, or even trying to. Please avoid giving any spoilers, even vague ones!

Gemini Space Demographics — Is there any data available about the Gemini Space demographics? Does this space appeal to the grey beards? Does it appeal to the youth, as an addition to the unsocial media apps? Who came, and moved on? Who stayed? I add a coarse poll on age, if you would like to take part.
